Hands touch, Eyes meet
Gibby and I were working in the lab one day, and then suddenly, it happened. Our hands touched. We both looked up, and our eyes locked.

Sudden silence, sudden heat
The clinking of beakers stopped. I could feel my cheeks burning.

Hearts leap in a giddy whirl
My heart was pounding so hard in my chest, I was certain Gibby could hear it.

He could be that boy, but I'm not that girl
I love Gibby so much, but he likes Nova.

Don't dream too far; don't lose sight of who you are.
I should get real. There's no way Gibby and I will ever be together. I'm Otto. I'm only a little brother to him. Nothing more.

Don't remember that rush of joy.
Stop thinking about it, Moron! Stop thinking about how magical it felt when our hands met.

Every so often we long to steal to the land of what might have been

That doesn't soften the ache we feel when reality sets back in.

Almost all of us had a crush on Nova at one point in our lives. She is a great girl,

Gold hair with a gentle curl,
What with her golden fur and bubblegum colored eyes. She's every guy's dream, I guess.

That's the girl he chose and heaven knows, I'm not that girl
She's the one he wants, not me. I'm not Nova. I'm not even a girl.

Don't wish, don't start. Wishing only wounds the heart,
No matter how much I want him, I can't have him. That's really what hurts.

I wasn't meant for silly frilly things, though, neither was Nova.
